| In
the commune of Naussac, look out for the ancient Chateau de Marinesques.
Now privately owned, it dates from the 14th century. |
A
beautiful mosaic ? It’s the Lot Valley’s fertile patchwork,
with fields of cereal, fruit and vegetables. |
Discover
the Chapelle St Loup – a wonderful pre-Roman chapel with
rounded corners, tucked into the woods at Salvagnac-St Loup (Causse
et Diège). |

| Experience
the golden age of steam: the 130 B, Capdenac’s emblem, stands
proudly at the entrance to the town. |
A
60 metres tunnel, dug through sheer rock, covers this canal in
Capdenac.
Built around 1870, it provided a short cut for boatmen
along the
Lot. |
Built
in the 13th century and remodelled in the 18th , this privately-owned
chateau used to raise silkworms (several mulberry trees remain).
You’ll find it at St Julien d'Empare, along the river Diège. |

| The
region offers lots to soothe the spirit and please the eye. Look
for the dry stone walls of the Causse, the mills (moulins), the
little stone ‘cazelles’, dolmens and tumulus. The
region offers a wide variety of flora and fauna – you may
well startle a deer or watch a buzzard circling overhead. The
Causse is also home to many varieties of orchids. |
